With their last album “A Night To Remember” (2016), Jorge Pérez, director, composer, percussionist and Patax leader undoubtedly showed that it was possible to transform a theater packed with live audience into both a recording studio and a movie set. More than two and a half hours of great celebration marked an unique night, which is reflected in a double CD / DVD that has become a landmark among the most fresh, innovative and energizing productions in the jazz scene.
Driven by the same fascination with live sound, for this 2018 Jorge Pérez has started to create a new PATAX record, again performing live and in a theater, but this time emphasizing original compositions. The result is “Creepy Monsters”: an album with twelve songs, seven out of which are original Jorge Pérez compositions and the other five are amazing “house special” arrangements. Among these, we can find quite dissimilar songs, such as “Higher Ground” by Stevie Wonder, the “Game of Thrones” main theme, “Bad” by Michael Jackson, “Volver” by Carlos Gardel or even the United States Anthem “Star Spangled Banner” itself.
PATAX is the embodiment of global music: a mix of styles, schools, nationalities and influences: Jazz, Funk, Flamenco, Rock Latin Jazz, Pop, Salsa, Gospel, Hip Hop, Free Jazz and an unbeatable lineup of “high performance” musicians. With Jorge Pérez in the lead, we find top class figures such as Federico Lechner, Daniel García, Israel Sandoval, Jorge Vera, Valentín Iturat, Marcos Collado, Carlos Sanchez, Daniel Morales, Alana Sinkey, Paula Domínguez, Nicolás Majluf, Dani Reus, Raúl Gil, Aarón Pozón, Fabrizio Scarafile, Rafael Águila, David Carrasco, Roberto Pacheco, Lidón Patiño, Pedro Medina and Dee Burrows, who leave their all on the stage.

Con “A Night To Remember” (el anterior disco de 2016), Jorge Pérez, director, compositor, percusionista y líder de Patax, demostró, sin lugar a dudas, que era posible transformar un teatro abarrotado de público real en estudio de grabación y plató de cine simultáneamente. Fueron más de 2 horas y media de fiesta en una noche única, reflejada en un doble CD / DVD, que ha quedado como un hito entre las producciones de más frescas, innovadoras y energizantes de la escena jazzística actual.
Para este 2018, Jorge Pérez, impulsado por la misma fascinación por la magia del sonido directo, empezó elaborar este nuevo trabajo discográfico de PATAX. De nuevo en vivo y de nuevo en un teatro, pero, en esta ocasión, poniendo el acento en las composiciones propias. El resultado es “Creepy Monsters”: 12 temas, de los cuales, 7 son composiciones originales de Jorge Pérez y los otros 5, son arreglos inverosímiles “marca de la casa”, de temas tan dispares como “Higher Ground” de Stevie Wonder, el tema principal de la serie “Game Of Thrones”, “Bad” de Michael Jackson, “Volver” de Carlos Gardel o el mismísimo Himno Oficial de los Estados Unidos “Star Spangled Banner” en una inaudita versión que dejará boquiabierto a más de uno.
